TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGY CENTER
AT DICKSON
Acceptable Use Policy for Computers and the Internet
Students and staff at the Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson deserve secure,
respectful, cooperative use of the
Center’s computer system and the Internet. This Acceptable Use Policy is
designed to meet those goals. The Center
expects variation in what constitutes acceptable use of Center computers in each
class and the class instructor will
determine the particular policy applicable to each system he or she operates,
subject to review by the Director or
Assistant Director.
Students will not allow unauthorized people access to Center equipment or
software and will not themselves copy or
remove from the Center without permission any Center hardware or software.
All computer use including Internet use must be in support of education and
research and appropriate for
the assignment. The Center is not responsible for a student’s access to any
inappropriate material. All students at
the Center will be taught ethics and acceptable use of the computer system and
the Internet. If there is a complaint
about inappropriate usage, the instructor will resolve it. If not resolved by
the instructor, the Director or Assistant
Director will review the complaint. Usage that is deemed inappropriate will be
grounds for suspension or dismissal
from the Center.
Inappropriate usage includes, but is not limited to:
1. Using the network or Internet for personal and private
matters including electronic mail outside the Center.
2. Hate mail, harassment, discriminatory remarks, and other
antisocial behaviors, including spamming.
3. Accessing pornographic or obscene material.
4. Accessing confidential material including, but not limited
to test files and personal/personnel records.
5. Destroying, inappropriate deleting or changing, or
otherwise damaging hardware or software.
6. Downloading and/or installing programs or data files on
Center computers without written
permission of the Instructor.
I, , have read and
understand the Tennessee Technology Center at
Dickson’s, Acceptable Use Policy for Computers and the Internet, dated August 5,
1999.
