Admissions / Fees

Applicants are eligible for admission provided:

1. They are at least eighteen (18) years of age or have a high school diploma or equivalent.

2. They declare an occupational objective or demonstrate through testing or counseling reasonable potential for achieving that objective.

To Apply:

  1.   2. Obtain an application for enrollment from the Student Services Offices on the Dickson Main and Clarksville Extension campuses, from the program site at instructional service centers or click here to access the application.
  3. Submit to the Student Services Office the completed application, documentation fulfilling vaccination requirements and file for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before being assigned to a program’s waiting list.
    1. Applicants born on or after Jan. 1, 1957, must submit proof of MMR (mumps, measles, rubella) vaccination. Applicants born on or after Jan. 1, 1980, must submit proof of varicella (chicken pox) vaccination. Go to page 4 in the enrollment application packet more information.

    2. The FAFSA is the application for the federal Pell grant and the state lottery grant for Tennessee Technology Centers (the Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant).

  4. Submit all required materials for the program and an official transcript of previous education earned from high school, GED, or other schools if applicable to your program.
    1. Cosmetology students must submit a high school transcript prior to enrollment and possess at least 10 high school credits or an average GED score of 450.
    2. Dental Assistant* admission requires High school or GED diploma, passing score on Compass test, three work references, satisfactory physical with all required immunizations, review of advisory committee.
    3. Practical Nursing*  entrance requires High school or GED diploma, passing score on Compass test, three work references, satisfactory physical with all required immunizations, review of advisory committee, pass drug screen and possible background check with cost the responsibility of the student.
  5. The applicant will be placed on the waiting list for a selected program according to date of application. Foreign students must present proof of permanent residency in the U.S. TTC Dickson gives preference for admission into space-limited programs to Tennessee residents.
  6. The applicant will be notified when a vacancy occurs. If the applicant refuses the offer of the vacancy, Student Services has the option of delaying the applicant’s entry to the next available slot. Any applicant who refuses a second offer of a vacancy will be removed from the waiting list.
  7. Periodic letters will be sent to those on long waiting lists to determine their continued interest. Any applicant who doesn’t respond in an appropriate time period will be dropped from the waiting list.
  8. Students previously terminated from the Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson must comply with any readmission requirements placed upon them.
  9. Students earning a diploma in a full-time program must wait a minimum of six months before being allowed to file an application to get on a waiting list of another program or submit an appeal to the director for earlier admissions to a subsequent program.

* Note: Persons desiring entrance into health-related programs must attend an information session to begin the entrance process. (Click on these program names for their information session dates - Practical Nursing / Dental Assistant.) The application process is explained at the information sessions and no waiting list is maintained for these programs. Fees:

All full-time students enrolling for more than 340 contact hours in a term, whether residents or non-residents, will pay the maximum trimester maintenance fee.  Students enrolling or completing between trimester beginning and ending dates will pay a prorated fee for that trimester based upon the  current fee schedule. Fees must be paid during registration before a student will be officially admitted to class. Thereafter, fees must be paid at the beginning of each trimester.

Fees must be paid with a personal check, cash, money order, MasterCard or Visa credit card.

Part-Time Student Fees:

Students enrolling in special industry or supplemental programs will be assessed a fee based on the number of hours in the program.  The fee is collected at the beginning of the program.

Refund policy -- There are no refunds on books and supplies.

Tuition/Maintenance Fee Refund -- A full refund of 100%  will be allowed if the class is canceled by the school, if the student drops or withdraws prior to the first day of class, or death of a student.

Partial Refund - A refund of 75% will be allowed if a program is dropped or a student withdraws within the first 10% of class hours. A refund of 50% will be allowed if a program is dropped or a student withdraws within the first 20% of the class hours. No refund will be granted after a student has attended 20% of the class hours. There will be no refunds after the first official day of classes when a minimum fee is collected (lowest fee shown on the fee schedule). At the point a student is due a partial refund of their fees, Technology Access Fees are not included in that refund.
