Dental Assistant - Dickson
The Dental Assisting program at Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson is one year in length (1296 hours). The program consists of organized class instruction, laboratory and clinical practice, and clinical rotations in dental offices. The class meets Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Dental Assisting students study a wide array of subjects including radiology, dental materials, anatomy, physiology, chair-side assisting, oral pathology and dental specialties. During the third semester of the program, students are assigned to dental offices for clinical externships.
The program in Dental Assisting is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Prospective students must attend at least one of the information sessions to begin the intake process. There is no need to file an application ahead of time. The information sessions will be on the TTC Dickson main campus. There is no need to call and reserve a seat in an information session. Call the main campus in April of each year to find out the dates of the May information sessions.

100% of graduates from this program, who completed their studies in 2010-2011, completed it within 12 months.
Because the Dental Assisting program is a closed-enrollment program, all students start and finish at the same time. All completers will complete within 100% of the program length (12 months) unless a student is returning to the program to complete a previous enrollment and/or retake failed work.
The Council on Occupational Education, TTC Dickson's accrediting body, calculates the graduation rate for Dental Assistant students at 88.89% for the 2010-11 year.
It reflects those students who completed the Dental Assisting program between September 2010 and August 2011 and were placed within their field of training.
