Support of education is a major thrust in any Rotary Club’s program of work, and that’s no different with the High Noon Rotary Club.

At the direction of High Noon President David Hamilton, the club has restarted it’s long-standing program of supporting the Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson with scholarship funds and something extra.

Hamilton was on hand recently to deliver two $500 scholarship checks to Practical Nursing student Lisa Barnett of White bluff and diesel student Andrew Curry of Dickson.

At Hamilton’s urging, the club’s board of directors also contributed $1,000 to the technology center’s PRIDE fund – a benevolent fund the school uses to make it possible for students to stay in school. Students petition a selection committee when they have needs that can’t be met by financial aid. Down through the years, the committee “has done some extraordinary things to enable students to stay in school and finish their education,” said Student Services Coordinator Gary Fouts. “The fund has bought clothes, gas cards and textbooks for students who didn’t have the money for basic items.

“The Technology Center family appreciates the hard work Rotarians put forth to raise these funds,” Fouts said. “The scholarship funds and benevolent fund dollars will change the lives of students and families perhaps for generations to come.”
