Dental Assisting

 

Location:  Dickson

The Dental Assisting program at Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson is one year in length (1296 hours).  The program consists of organized class instruction, laboratory and clinical practice, and clinical rotations in dental offices.  The class meets Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Dental Assisting students study a wide array of subjects including radiology, dental materials, anatomy, physiology, chair-side assisting, oral pathology and dental specialties.  During the third semester of the program, students are assigned to dental offices for clinical externships.

The Dental Assisting Program of the Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson will have a site visit conducted by the Commission on Dental Accreditation on September 24 – 25, 2009, for continued accreditation of the program.  The Commission on Dental Accreditation will accept third-party comments that pertain to the Dental Assisting standards or accreditation policies and procedures.  Third-party comments must be received in the Commission office at least 60 days prior to the site visit.    Third-party comments can be submitted to Commission on Dental Accreditation, American Dental Association, 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL  60611. 

The program in Dental Assisting is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation.  The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
